5.0 out of 5 stars Great little camera, July 3, 2009

By	Anne Phillips "Annie" (Denver, CO) - See all my reviews

This camera is awesome value for the money. It's a bit bigger than some others on the market, but that's because it uses regular AA batteries (2) rather than having to charge via AC or USB plug like some other cameras. I like that feature b/c I can use rechargeable AA batteries and not worry about being able to charge the camera itself all the time....Also b/c it is a bit bigger, it's easier to use/handle. At least that's what my friends with really tiny cameras think!
The flash was my concern and how will indoor pictures look like, but they look great. Zoom is pretty good as well and the camera comes with USB cord, so download is easy as well....overall, an excellent camera I would recommend.

5.0 out of 5 stars Use Rechargeable NiMH Batteries !!, September 14, 2009

By	WinCrazy "WinCrazy" (near Philadelphia, PA) - See all my reviews

For Pete's sake, don't use throw-away batteries in any camera ! They're a waste of money in the long run. Get a couple of sets of 2500 mAH or greater capacity NiMH (nickel metal hydride) rechargeable AA's and a decent charger from MAHA-Powerex, Uniross, LaCrosse or Panasonic. Don't get a cheapie charger promising 1 hour or less charging times. They will surely destroy your good quality batteries after only a few recharge cycles.

Canon PowerShot A630 8MP Digital Camera with 4x Optical Zoom

Product Description

From the Manufacturer

Replacing the highly popular PowerShot A620, the PowerShot A630 features a rotating 2.5-inch vari-angle LCD, 4x optical zoom lens, and a vast array of creative shooting modes. The PowerShot A630 packs a vast array of advanced features into a remarkably compact space:

8.0 megapixels
2.5-inch vari-angle LCD screen and real-image optical viewfinder
4x optical zoom
DIGIC II, iSAPS, 9-Point AiAF, FlexiZone AF/AE
Digital teleconverter and Safety Zoom
21 shooting modes

Amazing camera value!
This is one of those nice cameras that's so well done, it's easier to talk about what the camera ISN'T, rather than what it IS! This camera is not a small, shirt pocket camera, and might be a bit bigger than a woman would wish to carry in a purse. It's not a super-tele camera, but it does have a respectable, bit longer than average 4x optical zoom.

Excellent camera, October 17, 2006

By	S. Brooks (Los Angeles, CA) - See all my reviews

I purchased this to replace the Canon A70 (another good camera) as I wanted more megapixels in order to take photos to be enlarged and have greater ability to crop. The camera is easy to use, has lots of useful "one-button" features such as for night shots, aperture priority and shutter priority. The camera can also be put in manual mode which permits manual settings and I've found to be very useful particularly for outdoor, backlit situations.

Canon EOS 50D Digital SLR Highlights

New 15.1-megapixel CMOS sensor with improved noise reduction
The EOS 50D features a newly-designed 15.1-megapixel APS-C sized CMOS sensor which is capable of recording up to 4752 x 3168 pixels with full 14-bit A/D conversion for extremely fine tonal gradation. Ready to capture images in an instant, the sensor is designed to work with Canon’s EF and EF-S lenses with a conversion factor of 1.6x. 5.0 out of 5 stars Detailed Review of the Canon 50D - I love this Camera!!!!!!!!!!!!, October 8, 2008

By	Jodi-Ann Richards (Mia, FLA USA) - See all my reviews

SECTION 1: WHO IS THIS REVIEW FOR
This review is close to 10 pages long because it was written for people who are not proficient with the terms and concepts used in the DSLR world. If you are a proficient DSLR user then I would recommend that you check one of the much shorter reviews here or dpreview. For example, you already know what vignetting is and therefore understand the importance of the new lens peripheral illumination correction feature. However, a new DSLR buyer does not know what this means and this is why I therefore explain what each feature really is so these people can then decide if the feature is really important to them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Debating Between a Canon 50D and a Nikon D90? Read This!, May 26, 2009

By	C. Tan (Bay Area, CA) - See all my reviews (REAL NAME)

Before you read this review, please note that the Canon 50D and D90 are not in the same class and are targeted at different markets, but there are still many people, including myself, comparing them with each other due to the relatively small difference in price. The Canon 50D should be compared to the Nikon D300, but since the D300 is clearly a better camera, there is no point. The 50D is in fact, somewhere in between the D90 and D300. With that being said, I hope you find my review helpful.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hard to beat, March 10, 2008

By	Julie Neal (Sanibel Island, Fla.) - See all my reviews (TOP 50 REVIEWER) (REAL NAME)

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)

These PowerShot "A" cameras are Canon's attempt to deliver the quality and features of its more expensive PowerShot "G" and PowerShot Pro "S" lines (such as full zoom lenses) at a budget price. The results are pretty good. (How do I know? Because I've actually gotten to use all of these cameras. I earn my living at Walt Disney World writing a travel guide, and nearly every day guests ask me to take photos of them with their own cameras, which most often are Canon PowerShots.)

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth the extra $30 over the A570is with mostly same or better features, March 20, 2008

By	BoaltGeek (California) - See all my reviews

Pros:
The A590IS is the best point and shoot under $200 today (closer to $155 most places). I own an SD600 and my wife, friend, and father (all different people mind you!) own A570IS's. The A590IS is the new version of the A570IS, 2007's best selling camera. Generally, see the rave reviews of the A570IS if you want to know the major pros and cons (in summary: Image Stabilization is amazing, noise is limited, features of all there including manual controls [though no auto-bracketing which no other cameras at this price point have regardless], final picture quality is superior to all other brands at this price point and type, [i.e., point-and-shoot], good size). Rather, here I'll address the main improvements over the A570IS (which is about $30 cheaper):
